“Safa” – Soft magic in the rhythm of the rainbow

Safa is a vintage Moroccan Boucherouite rug measuring 130 x 185 cm, full of color, texture and soul. Handwoven by Berber women in the villages of Morocco – created from recycled textiles, each thread holding history and hope.

The color palette is a fireworks display: from sorbet pastels to deep purple, cornflower blue, jade green, sunny yellow, pink and milky white – mixed in soft, rhythmic layers that feel almost painterly. The rug has a dense, almost shaggy look that is both decorative and delicious underfoot.

🏡 How you can use “Safa” in your home:

  • Place it in the living room in front of the sofa for colorful warmth

  • Use it in the bedroom as an eye-catcher at the headboard or front end of the bed.

  • Make the children's room playful and soft - without compromising on style

  • Combine it with light furniture and natural materials for balance.

That's why we love “Safa”

  • A 100% unique handmade rug – no two are alike

  • Made from recycled textiles – beautiful and sustainable

  • Full of energy, yet harmonious

  • The name “Safa” means “clarity” or “purity” – exactly like the expression the carpet brings

Safa is not just a rug – it is a work of art with warmth, life and history. A piece of Berber culture, ready to brighten up your home.

This is an old vintage rug that has been cleaned and is ready for a new home. Therefore, you will also find small holes, warping and unevenness in the rug. This is part of the charm of vintage.

At Tibladin we love vintage Boucherouite as we find them much more charming than newly woven boucherouite rugs.

Maintenance

Vacuum the carpet regularly and take it outside and shake it once in a while. Stains are removed by soaking up the stain as quickly as possible with a cloth and then dabbing the stain with a damp cloth. The rug is made from scraps of different materials.

The story behind

Carpets decorate, provide coziness and warmth and are also noise absorbent.

Boucherouite rugs are woven from fabric scraps from clothes and textiles and the Berber women give them a new life in an artistic rug. All carpets are unique and small works of art in themselves. The name Boucherouite comes from Bouts de chiffons, which means remnants of fabric. Many types of materials are used in a Boucherouite rug: cotton, nylon, wool, lace, tulle, etc.  Each piece of fabric is fixed piece by piece with a special technique. This technique is passed down from mother to daughter through generations. The hallmark of Boucherouite rugs is that they are colorful and thought provoking. They give a warm and colorful touch to the interior and have become very popular among interior design enthusiasts worldwide. The most common size is approx. 100×170 cm. The smaller rugs are also used as wall decorations with/or without a frame.
