Maintenance of Boujaad carpets

Although Boujaad rugs are robust, their vibrant colors and fine weaving are best preserved with a little extra care:

  1.

    Vacuuming

    •

Vacuum regularly, but use low suction and preferably without a rotating brush.

    •

Vacuum both sides a few times a year to remove dust that is deep in the weave.

    •

      Venting

      •

Air the carpet out a few times a year, preferably in dry, light sunshine – but avoid strong midday sun as the colors may fade.

      •

        Stain removal

        •

Remove stains immediately. Dab gently with a damp cloth and use mild wool soap if necessary. Avoid rubbing hard.

        •

          Professional washing

          •

Have the rug professionally cleaned every 3-5 years at a dry cleaner that has experience with handmade wool rugs.

          •

            Rotation

            •

Turn the carpet a few times a year so that wear and sun fading are distributed evenly.

              The story behind Boujaad carpets

              The story behind Boujaad carpets

Boujaad carpets originate from Haouz Region in central Morocco, near the town of Boujaad, and is known for some of the most colorful and artistic Berber carpets.

They were traditionally woven by Berber women as part of their dowry – a kind of visual diary, in which the weaver incorporated symbols of love, fertility, protection and the cycle of life. This makes each Boujaad rug unique and full of personal history.

              Boujaad carpets are characterized by:

              •

Vibrant colors – often in shades of pink, orange, red and blue, created with natural plant dyes.

              •

Creative, free patterns – no two rugs are alike. They can be geometric, abstract or almost painterly.

              •

Soft and slightly lower pile than Beni Ouarain and Beni Mguild, which gives them a light and flexible expression.

Today, Boujaad rugs are much loved by designers and collectors because they combine bohemian-colorfulness with authentic craftsmanship. They can function both as statement pieces in modern homes and as warm, soulful elements in classic interiors.

TAMRIT – Unique vintage Berber rug

TAMRIT is a very special vintage Berber rug from the 1970s, carrying more than 50 years of history and Moroccan craftsmanship tradition. With its deep, dusty shades of burgundy, plum and old rose, combined with warm details in ochre, golden orange and sand-colored wool, the rug has an almost painterly expression that only time can create.

The beautiful rug is characterized by a natural patina, where the colors have become softer and more subdued over the decades. The vibrant surface, the slightly irregular patterns and the visible traces of age give TAMRIT a very special charm and authenticity.

A piece of Moroccan cultural history

The rug comes from the rich Berber tradition in Morocco, where Amazigh women have woven rugs for their family homes for generations. Traditionally, the rugs were not created according to fixed patterns, but shaped by the weaver's own experiences, surroundings and creative expression.

In the 1970s, hand-woven rugs were still an important part of everyday life in many Moroccan village communities. They were used to create warmth and comfort in the home, but were also a way of expressing personality and continuing ancient craft traditions.

The geometric motifs that adorn TAMRIT are characteristic of Moroccan Berber art. Diamond shapes, stylized figures, and repetitive symbols have long been part of the visual traditions of the Amazigh people. Some of these motifs are traditionally associated with protection, fertility, and the various stages of life, although their precise meaning varies from weaver to weaver.

A living carpet with soul and character

One of the most fascinating things about TAMRIT is its beautiful, time-worn surface. The carpet has a relatively thin quality with a short, worn pile, which gives it a rustic and almost flat-woven look. Decades of use have created a lively play in the structure, where the original patterns stand out clearly in some places, while in other places they blend softly with the base color.

The dusty color nuances and worn surface give the rug an almost antique look that is difficult to imitate. The fine variations in the weave, the natural patina and the decorative finishes testify to a rug with a long history.

It is precisely the combination of the muted colors, the rustic surface and the small irregularities that make the rug so beautiful. It is not a rug that tries to be perfect – it is a rug with history.

A unique eye-catcher in the interior

TAMRIT is perfect for those who want to add warmth, personality and something truly special to their home.

The dusty burgundy and plum colors play beautifully with natural materials like wood, leather, linen and ceramics. The rug will be a great contrast to a bright sofa or a minimalist room, but also fits perfectly into a more colorful and bohemian interior.

With its almost artistic expression, TAMRIT can function both as an atmospheric floor rug and as a decorative wall hanging, where the beautiful patterns and historical patina really come into their own.

Vintage with more than 50 years of history

When you choose a genuine vintage Berber rug, you get something that cannot be recreated in modern production. Decades of use and natural aging have given the rug a character that makes it completely unique.

TAMRIT has visible signs of age and use, including variations in the pile, wear and tear and small irregularities in the weave. This is a natural part of the rug's history and what makes vintage rugs so sought after.

A unique piece of Moroccan textile craftsmanship that brings history, warmth and personality into the home.

[143,59

post-48509","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","product_cat-berbertaepper","product_cat-marokkanske-taepper","first","instock","taxable","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-simple

Berbertæppe | Marokkansk tæppe | Kig her lige nu!

<meta name="description" content="Unikt vintage BOUJÀAD tæppe 160x230 cm.en dejlig lang løber.
