GALET – handmade stool/pouf in crocheted cotton

Our newest design icon, GALET, is a sculptural, handmade pouf created from a multitude of individually crocheted cotton balls. The soft, rounded shapes lie closely together, giving the pouf its characteristic three-dimensional and almost organic expression.

The name CRAZY is French for a smooth, rounded stone – inspired by the many hand-crocheted shapes that together form the surface of the pouf.

The pouf is handmade in a women's cooperative in Morocco. Each ball is crocheted separately, and the slight variations in shape and structure are a natural part of the craft and make each pouf unique.

GALET functions as both a stool, extra seating and as a decorative piece of furniture in its own right. The distinctive structure adds something tactile and playful to the interior, while the simple design makes it easy to combine with both Moroccan craftsmanship and a more Nordic interior.

The story behind

Galet skammel/puf er håndlavet af kvinder i et kvindekooperativ syd for Marrakech. I modsætning til de andre puffer i shoppen er denne en fast skammel, så der skal altså ikke tilvælges fyld.

The women's cooperative employs 160 women and thus contributes to raising the standard of living of many families in the small village. A school and kindergarten have been established for the women's children, so that the children can receive education and be employed while the mothers work. It helps the standard of living of the many families in the small village.
