About the author

Jamila and Khadija are one of a group of six girls. Raised in Denmark. The book is a tribute to their mother Rahma El Massoudi and her great love for both family and cooking.

The two sisters grew up eating Moroccan food and learned to cook Moroccan food from their mother from a young age. Today they run the café southharbourcafe in Sydhavnen in Copenhagen.

With authentic recipes and personal stories, the Mohammadi sisters invite you into their mother's kitchen, where cooking is an act of love and a way to preserve cultural heritage. The book is a celebration of food's ability to bring people together and create community across generations and cultures.

Jamila and Khadija Mohammadi came to Denmark in 1977 from the village of Boujnanne in Morocco. Their mother brought with her a treasure trove of recipes and food traditions that she passed on to her daughters. In 2017, the sisters opened South Harbour Café in Copenhagen's Sydhavn, where they serve authentic Moroccan food based on their mother's recipes. The café quickly became known for its hospitality and tasty dishes and received, among other things, Sun over the Gudhjem product award in 2022
