Recipe for iced tea with mint - Served in Moroccan glass art
You may have been to Morocco or North Africa in general, the Arab countries or perhaps southern Spain? Then you are very likely to have come across the traditional (hot) tea made with green mint leaves and sugar. In Morocco, when you order "atay" which means tea in Arabic, you automatically get a mint tea, which is the traditional tea. This tea is of great importance and is often served til guests as a symbol of hospitality.
We have been inspired by this traditional tea and have made a fresh iced tea filled with mint - perfect for a warm summer day with friends in the garden.
Here's how you do it
- Make a pot of green tea
- Add a large handful of fresh mint
- Season with sugar (approx. 3 tbsp. to taste and preference)
- Let the tea steep for 10 minutes and then refrigerate
- When the tea is cold, you can add fresh lemon or lime slices
Serve the cold tea to friends and family in your finery Moroccan Beldi glass on a hot summer day in the shade.
If it is to be extra festive, you can make the rim of the glass a little wet and dip the rim in sugar before pouring the cold tea into the glass.

Mouth-blown glass art from Morocco
Here at Tibladin, we are so proud of the beautiful glass art we have in the shop. All of our glassware is hand blown and naturally imported directly from Morocco. The glass is recycled glass collected in Marrakech, remelted and mouth-blown into new beautiful creations. All glasses are unique. Some feel heavier than others, you can see small air bubbles and cracks in the glass because it is recycled glass - all of which make for an incredibly beautiful glass. We do not color the glasses - the colors arise naturally from the recycled glass that is remelted. The transparent glasses, has a turquoise, bluish, even sometimes greenish undertone. The green glasses has a refreshingly beautiful green color.
